Sylvia Louis is a professional circus aerialist, pole artist, devoted yoga practitioner, choreographer and instructor.

Sylvia has been fascinated with the trapeze since she was a child. A gymnast from a young age, she dreamed of flying through the air and became enamoured with aerial acrobatics the first time she climbed on a trapeze.

“To be creative means to be in love with life.” ~ Osho

Sylvia is a creative artist known for her stunning fusion of strength, flexibility and grace. When in the air, she feels a freedom to move her body and express herself in a way not found when both feet are firmly planted on the ground. Every time she is on stage, Sylvia expresses her emotions through her choreography and her passion for performing, and leaves the audience feeling as though they have been temporarily transformed into another world.

In search of a new artistic outlet, Sylvia discovered pole dancing. She was inspired to merge her circus acrobatics with the sensuous moves of pole dance. The result of this artistic exploration has brought Sylvia to the competitive stage as an international pole artist. In her first pole competition, the 2011 Canadian Pole Fitness Championships, Sylvia placed 2nd runner up in the Pro Division and has also been a pro finalist in 3 other national championships. In international pole competitions, she has represented Canada at the 1st World Pole Sport Championships in London in 2012, 2nd Pole World Cup in Rio in 2012 and the 2013 Pan American Pole Championships in Rio.  Recently, she partnered with another circus artist to create Aeria Duet, a pole duo that performs for local and international events.

In an effort to fuse contemporary circus with traditional styles of circus arts, Sylvia was invited by the Vietnamese National Circus Federation to teach and choreograph pole and aerial disciplines for a performance in Hanoi in 2013.
